Scenario:  The National Archives and Records Administration requires additional space for storing and preserving public records and making them available for public review. Solution:  The architectural firm of Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum is hired in 1988 to design a new Archives II building in College Park, Maryland. SSI works together with these architects and designers to implement a system of electric high-density mobile storage units which meet the strict fire and safety requirements for document storage in the building and which provide maximal storage capacity.
