Scenario: A supplier of the dairy food industry plans to build a second finished-goods warehouse to store extra product.
Solution: Install a 158-long mobile rack in the middle of the existing warehouse, precluding the need to build a completely new storage facility.
Spacesaver high-density mobile storage systems are installed in over 60,000 locations, covering virtually every branch of industry. From small 30-inch wide lateral shelving units for shop floor offices to warehouse carriages 150 ft and longer with load capacities over 250,000 lbs, Spacesaver systems can be designed to serve any industrial requirement. Anything that can be moved by a lift truck or crane can be stored on a Spacesaver system. So far, nobody has come up with a serious load requirement that we couldn't meet: there are virtually no size, bulk, shape or weight design limits.
Shelves, cabinets, modular drawers, unit boxes, lockers, pallet or cantilever racks, virtually any kind of housing, even tooling display racks for tool cribs, can be incorporated in a Spacesaver system. The systems can be supplied for machine loading by lift truck or crane, or for hand loading. A wide variety of safety and control devices are available to prevent carriage movement and protect personnel and equipment in the aisles. Wire-guided vehicles can be integrated with Spacesaver systems by means of guide wires in the aisle floors. Vehicles can also be equipped with remote aisle controls.
The chances of material loss or damage are minimized because Spacesaver systems compact stored materials into a protected and controlled "storage cube." Only a small percentage of shelf positions are vulnerable to damage at any time. compacted modules can be locked to reduce opportunity for pilferage or unauthorized requisition, as well as protect the contents from dust, water and fire damage. Optional sprinkler and fire extinguisher systems can be built in to protect flammables.
Inventory control systems with bar-coded shelf or bin locations can be integrated into the systems and programmed to signal or open the proper aisle for storing or picking a given item.
Typically, our systems pay for themselves in two years or less on space saving alone. If they eliminate the need for new construction, the payback is that much faster. Inventory reduction resulting from a more efficient storage system generates an almost immediate payback. And that's not counting the operational benefits of faster access and improved workflow.
